A low-back Windsor armchair, in yew wood with elm seat. This design of Windsor chair is attributed to the Prior family of chair makers, from Middlesex, circa 1790 to 1845.
Hoop back, with scribe line, supporting three fretted and shaped splats with central roundels, alternating with two straight spindles. Shaped arms and shaped underarm supports. Seat, with scribe line, has lovely patterning in the grain. Single ring turned legs connected by crinoline stretcher.
Lovely rich colour.
Seat height 17 inches (43 cm).
