Description

A small blue and white meat plate, Wild Rose pattern. Circa 1830 to 1860. Meat plates of this unusual small size are extremely rare.
The Wild Rose pattern was very popular from the 1830's to the 1850's. The name describes the floral border design.
The main scene is of Nuneham Park, at Nuneham Courtenay just outside Oxford. The grounds, landscaped by Capability Brown around 1780, were amongst the most popular of all 18th Century gardens, and the Wild Rose pattern was used by many blue and white potters.
Excellent condition, other than some light staining to the main part of the top surface.
